Antoni and Neil Schneiderman in 2007 published, “Psychosocial and behavioral interventions for chronic medical conditions,” Current Opinion in Psychiatry 2007, 20:152–157A, a review study that reported data from two studies found reduced mortality from all causes over a mean period of 8 years in subjects practicing Transcendental Meditation compared to controls. The review said that this finding is consistent with a study that found improved blood pressure, insulin resistance, and cardiac autonomic-nervous-system tone in subjects with cardiovascular disease.
